Our Mission
The Madera District Fair strives to meet the needs of the community by providing a venue that is fun, safe and family oriented, all the while promoting agriculture and community involvement.

Our Vision
Beginning in 2007, the Madera District Fair will embark on a commercial development project, marking the first phase towards a long awaited and much needed renovation of the grounds. The 70-year-old facility is in dire need of improvements such as infrastructure, landscaping and building renovations.  The commercial development project will utilize between 28 acres of the fairgrounds’ retail space with a Lowe’s home improvement store as the anchor tenant. The Madera District Fair Board awarded Newman Development Group the development contract for a 60-year lease for 28 acres for $925,000 for the first five years with a ten percent increase every five years.

Madera District Fair Operations:
The Madera District Fair has an operating budget of $1 million per year. The Fair receives 1/10 – that’s $125,000 – of its operating budget from an allocation from Fairs and Expositions and does not receive any tax money. For the remaining $875,000, the Fair must generate its own revenue in order to break even, which leaves little to no room for property repairs and improvements.

The Fair maintains its expenses by their annual four-day fair, rental agreements with year round tenants and renting out the buildings for private functions.

Fiscal Impact:
Of the 110 acres that belong to the Madera Fair, 28 acres have been allotted for commercial development. The revenue generated from leasing the acreage will return nearly $1 million annually to the Fair, ensuring the stability and longevity of the Madera fairgrounds.

Additionally, this project will create hundreds of new jobs and substantial tax revenue for the City.

How will this affect the Fair’s attractions?
The Madera Speedway will remain at the Fairgrounds. The Quarter Midget track will also remain at the grounds. The Motocross track will be relocated.

The BMX track will be relocated to Woodward Park in Fresno.
